La Luz - Roses Scarf done!

I have finished with this scarf a couple days ago, but had no chance to putit up on the blog... my life is somehow so busy with so many errands everyday, and having a tough time to find a time to knit... but anyway, this scarf came out gorgeous!! i love it !!

La Luz - Roses Scarf

I started to make this scarf as soon as I got this yarn... These yarns areincredible, and I could not resist it... so, my ruffle scarf is put off for a while....
When I started to knit my ruffle scarf, I was very impressed by its softness, and now with this 100% silk, I am even more pleased to work on.
It's simply gorgeous!! I love it! My husband says it looks like a East Villagian scarf...

Ruffle Scarf

So, this is the Ruffle Scarf from Scarf Style. I am using exactly the same yarns as the book says... Classic Elite's Premier.
This yarn is so soft, and very smooth and easy to knit.
It goes very fast; I am almost finishing my first skein.... let's see how it goes...

More Yarns...

I got more yarns... I can't believe it! But I guess buying yarns is almost like releasing my stress, and I can't help buying...

Anyway, I walked by Downtown Yarns with my husband & baby, and I was so determined not to go in, but my husband was like "Are you sure you don't drop by? Take a peek." and that was the end...

I had been very very fascinated by one of the scarves on the wall, and this time, I decided to work on it. So, I purchased one skein of Fiesta Yarn's La Luz, and one ball of Karabella's Roses.

When I told the lady that I was going to knit that scarf with these yarns, she made a copy of the instructions that were on the wall and gave it to me.

What a nice lady! That totally made my day~

More yarns....

I bought more yarns yesterday... I just couldn't resist it when I walked by my favorite yarn store - Downtown Yarns.

This time, I bought three skeins of Classic Elite Premiere (50% pima cotton/50% tencel) and one ball of Filatura di Crosa's Nilo. While I was walking down the city, the weather was so nice that I felt I could not knit wool any more for a while, and I wanted to get some summer yarns...

I am making a ruffle scarf (in Scarf in Style) with Premiere. Let's see how it goes...

My baby's Pullover finished!!

I finally finished my baby's pullover after frogging so many times...
It came out nice and light, and it fits perfect (which does not necessarily mean good... because now I have to worry about if he can wear it next winter...)

anyway, here is the pullover:





I used two (only two!!) skeins of Rowan's rowanspun dk. It is very light, but it is extremely fragile, and it breaks very easily if you pull a little bit... my baby pulled a couple times and totally broke it....

I want this...

I receive emails from Knitter's Review once a week, and I am always intrigued by the advertisemenet on the right side of the article. This week's ad was especially interesting... It's from elann.com, and it's about Schoeller Stahl's Merino & Stretch and the jacket looks so cool....

I want that.

If you purchase more than nine balls, they will give me free pattern of this jaceket... should I order?

More yarns coming...

I finally got some yarns from purlsoho... I happened to find such a great sale on line, and could not resist to buy them.
So, here is my package:



I purchased two yarns; Joseph Galler's Peruvian Tweed and Noro's Transition.





Peruvian Tweed is my favorite yarn. This one is a new color to me, and I am already anxious to work on some project with this.
As for transition, I have never used this yarn before, but since I read the knitter's review, I had wanted to work on this yarn so bad, so I purchased it. I don't know what to do with this yet... I think it always looks a lot darker in purl's website, so whenever I get yarns, I 'm almost surprised to see bright colors...

Forgotten Pullover

After frogging this sweater, I started to put this off and do some other projects...but finally today, I finished the body part!



I am going to make two sleeves and put them all together. I wonder if there's any chance for my baby to wear this this spring... it's wool 100% and the weather is so nice, it's just so gorgeous that I feel almost guilty staying home and knitting... So, I'm taking him out every day... (yes, that's why I am taking so long time working on this sweater)

Airy Scarf Finished

I somehow finished this scarf on time...



This is again, from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, and I used habu's yarn instead of rowan's. It was extremely thin yarn, and therefore, it was very difficult to knit it. The book says it is 2-4 hours project, but it took more than that...

Once I got used to this mohair, it didn't take long to make it, but until then, I had tough time figuring out how to knit this... but I like it alot now!



It is literally airy, almost no weight, but still warm... I think I can make a larger version to wrap my neck completely for a bit chillier weather.

Another Project....

My father in law called us this morning and said he would take us out for dinner for my birthday!!
What a nice offer. He had been in Florida on my birthday, and called from there to wish me happy birthday, and now he will take us out on Sunday.... I really appreciate it!

So, I started to think that maybe I should start making my airy scarf so that I can wear it on Sunday.
I purchased a silk & mohair yarn from Habu, and I wanted to make an airy scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. This would be my fifth project from the book.... I must love it....

Habu Yarns --- fabulous!!

I went to city to visit my friend so on the way home I dropped at Habu.
This is my second time there, and I finally had a chance to look around and purchase some yarns!!
What a great space! It is very tiny, tiny space with a variety of fabulous yarns on the wall...

I have purchased:




2/17 tsugumi (100% silk) in mocha
1/4 mohair loop (81% mohair, 9% wool, 10% nylon) in beige
1/12 silk mohair (60% mohair, 40% silk) in charcoal gray
1/2.2 kenbo spiral (100% silk) in natural white
1/2.3 denim (40% cotton , 40% acrylic, 20% nylon) in beige
fringe tape (100% acetate) in gray

what a wonderful yarns!! I adore them.

A Gift - Finished!

I finally finished the gift scarf to my friend's boy --- I am very pleased with the result.
I especially like the way color graduated ...
I used five different yarns; some of them contain alpaca and silk, and others are mostly wool.

A Gift Scarf

So, I started to make a little scarf for my friend's boy. He is such a handsome guy and I think this rather subdued color would be good for him.



So far, I have used Araucania's Nature Wool and Alchemy's Reservor. It comes out beautifully. Most of the part are garter stitched with a little bit of Seed Stitches. Very basic pattern. It's all about color and combination of yarns.

Hopefully I can finish it by tomorrow...

A little token of graditude

One of my friend emailed me to ask if I want to have any of her boy's outfits as he outgrew them...

What a nice offer!

Her boy is almost 4 years old now and my little baby is still 20 months, but he is already wearing 2-3T...

So, I suddenly decided to make something for her boy to give him in return to his hand-me-down outfits. It has to be something small so that I can finish within a few days....

And, here is the yarns of inspiration for this project. I really really love the multi-colored wool from Alchemy. I purchased it last fall and never have used it, so this is a great opportunity to try it.



Hopefully I can come up with some project in shape by tomorrow.

Oh no....

As I worked on my baby's pullover, I realized that it became too big (or wide) for his body...

Every time when I made sweaters for him, he grew up soooo fast that my knitting speed could not catch up with his growth spurt, and ended up in small size. So, this time, I have determined to make it alot bigger, this way, he can wear it for a couple months.

but, but, but....

i guess i should have read Knitter's Review a bit more careful. It says it is extremely elastic, and I thought I knew it, but I guess I didn't imagine that it would actually expand like that in size...

SO, I decided to unwind the whole project again. Good thing it is just a little kid's sweater. Otherwise, it was gonna be a serious pain in the neck...



Let's see how far I can go by tomorrow.

Shopping Part II

I did it again... I DID went shopping again today to get more yarns...

I guess I wanted to erase yesterday's bad shopping experience... because it is usually a HEAVEN to go get yarns. So, I went to my LYS, the Yarn Girls. This is a relatively new store, and the owner is VERY nice! This is my second visit, and she remembered me!! Isn't it great?

I even asked her if I can exchange some yarns in different color, and she said "No problem!" What a nice lady! I really appreciate it, because I purchased so many different yarns last time to create something unique, and I guess I don't have enough talent to do it... so, instead of having Louet Sales' Euroflax in two different color, I decided to get three skeins in same color. I exchanged two skeins that I purchased last time, and newly purchased one more skein. Hopefully I can make something this time.

When I was looking around, she was working on her project, which was extremly nice! So, I asked which yarn she was working for, and she introduced to me a brand-new yarn from Wool in the Woods. What a nice yarn!! I can't believe it is 100% wool, but it is, and has such a deep color. I ended up purchasing one skein of Cyclone... Again, one skein of multi color...

So, here are yarns that I got today!



I do have a lot of one skein yarn in multi color, like Koigu's KPPPM, Lorna's Lace's Sheppered Sock, and etc... Does anyone recommend any pattern that uses only one multi-colored fingering-weight/sport-weight yarn? I have to figure out somehow to work on my stache of yarns...
